Because Fun Is Fun!
Hi, I'm just hanging around with Gossip Girl with my campus-wear shirt still on right now. Cursed a lot because jerks were getting so damn evil in this 4th season and of course adored the characters a lot because they were so deadly charming! including Rufus and Lily. I hate to admit that Gossip Girl is quite addictive, although actually its story is so dramatic that sometimes I think I wanna come in to the Upper East Side and announce that every one in there needs a therapy and after that I'd go back to my bed and rest my emotions down. Ah.. but I'm now so addicted, what can I do? Oh, and before I continue watching the 4th season of Gossip Girl, I got something to tell: today, I finally got my own Hunger Games book :D
Actually I didn't expect to buy the English version. I mean, the translated one was okay because I knew the English one would be very expensive.
So, I went to Gramedia bookstore this afternoon and with a little effort of searching, I found this trilogy. Surprise! All of the books were in English and all cost: Rp. 75.000. Goodness, I could pay for that. In fact, I couldn't find the translated ones in the store.. or maybe it was only me not being observant enough, Idk :)
To be honest, I was planning to buy Catching Fire, not the Hunger Games but since I was buying the English version, I do need to read from the beginning. Seems like the weekend is going to be so fun! :D
And it's in English hahaha how lovely!
Can you read the text? I guess not. Okay.

The Hunger Games: Reading and Watching.
I watched The Hunger Games on theater three days ago. I haven't read the books, though. I always watch the movie version first, anyway, then I'll decide whether to read the book or not. I remember saying this after watching the movie:
"I think even Hunger Games movie is better than Harry Potter movies."
When I said that, I hadn't even realized the actual reasons yet, I just felt that way. All think was:
1. Harry Potter is all darkness, humors don't even help. The filmmakers make it that way. Hunger Games doesn't involve humor as much as HPs do, but magically it's lighter, not too horror, it's exact.
2. I haven't read the Hunger Games books, yes. But when I was watching the movie, why did I feel like reading and watching altogether? When I watched the movie, it felt real. When I watched HP, "oh someone has made a movie and I'm watching it." Hunger Games movie feels like the real book adaptation. Perhaps it's because of the perfect casts, they do not seem to be casted to attract people to watch the movie, but to play book characters. And I think it's also because even without reading the book first, I did get the plot. While some friends of mine who indeed watched HP from the first movie (but definitely did not read the books at all) did frequently ask me how the plot actually went whenever we discussed HP.
My thought was still a bit rough.. erm, no, a bit abstract. Right? hahaha. I knew it was good, better, but I just didn't know how to deliver the reasons by words. Perhaps this article from Mugglenet explains much better:
Do not ever read anything for a half, read the whole article above here :)
All the article says is soooooo true! I totally agree! Don't know yet with the books part though because, again, I haven't read the books.

Have you watched the movie yet? What do you think? :)

You're A Pretty Little Flower, I'm A Busy Little Bee
How're you doing?
I'm having beautiful songs to recommend right now. I hope you'll like it. :)
1. Dia Frampton - The Broken Ones
"And oh maybe I see a part of me in them.
The missing piece always trying to fit in."
"The shattered heart,
Hungry for a home.
No you're not alone,"
2. Far East Movement - Live My Life (ft. Justin Bieber)
Okay, I don't always listen to songs with Justin Bieber in it but when I do, hey, the song sounds perfectly fit his voice! Good job, good choice, Bieber's voice truly fits the song. And.. yeah, enjoy the beat!
3. The All-American Rejects - Beekeeper's Daughter
I'm dancing slowly but sure! Don't be too busy, bee, or you'll lose your pretty little flower! Ladadadada..
Wait, did I hear a touch of such a random flute in the end of the song? hmm..
"You’re a pretty little flower
I’m a busy little bee
Honey, that’s all you need to see."
4. Cantika & Audrey - Akuilah Aku
Heeeeeey... Indonesian song again! welcome! welcome to my blog!
Do you have any songs you want to recommend to me? Spit it out.. :)

1. Dia Frampton - The Broken Ones
This song is breaking my heart. It's like a mirror, I feel like I'm listening about myself. I'm not perfect, I'm sometimes broken too perhaps I rather fit to be the object than the subject. But I do tend to have a heart for the broken ones. The ones whom most people oppress. Is it bad that I seem to always see the best things on people no matter how much they do wrong?
"All your faults to me make you more beautiful."
"And oh maybe I see a part of me in them.

I don't know what to say here, I'm trying to find the exact word.. hmm.. okay, wait, I'm thinking.. hmm.. lovely song? Yes, it's lovely, it's beautiful, I fell in love since the first time I listened to the song on the radio. So? What do you say?
Do you have any songs you want to recommend to me? Spit it out.. :)

I AM _ _ _ _ LOCKED
The title, it's a pass code, FYI.
Well, I haven't posted anything since March started, have I?
Well, I haven't posted anything since March started, have I?
Of course I was busy doing my duty as a student, but I did watch movies a lot too lately. And this one has been added to my favorites:
Actually I didn't know there's the TV series of Sherlock Holmes on BBC until some months a go people reblogged the gifs of it on my tumblr dashboard again and again. I knew what they reblogged was Sherlock Holmes, but it wasn't the Sherlock Holmes I watched on theaters. So, I searched for it on google. Apparently, BBC one has been airing the TV version of Sherlock Holmes since 2010 and the second season of it was aired last January so I guess that's way it was all over my tumblr dashboard lately. Google said that the series is the 21st century version of Sherlock Holmes. A modern Sherlock Holmes? hmm interesting. And I also checked on its IMDB.
9.1/10? Wow. A must watch! And a million thanks to Putdar for letting me watch the series, the files she gave me definitely helped me out of my curiosity. And my writing below contains a little bit of spoilers, so if you hate to be spoiled, stop reading here. I'd be very pleased if you keep reading, though. Hahaha.
A lot to discuss here! I'll start with the major characters, John Watson and Sherlock Holmes. John is the type
that avoids fighting. The one who will give away just to avoid punching anyone
on the face. He is the one who keeps the emotions to himself and easy to forgive. He is the one who
respects others' feelings. He's the one whose anger won't last long. He's the one
who'll stay kind to you even though you've humiliated him. He's the one that
every kind of people can be close to. He is the loyal man. I like him. He's the
real human figure, I mean, he's not too fictionized (does that word even exist
in English?). But Sherlock. He knows a little about sentiments, all he's
acknowledged of is chemical instruments and all the science stuff. Although
that doesn't mean that he has no feelings. He does, but he's not aware enough
of other people's feeling that's why everybody thinks that he's annoying and
perhaps that's why he doesn't have many friends. He also underestimates little
knowledges such as that the Earth goes around the Sun which John --and I--
think is a weakness. There is a big
weakness, so there must be a big strength. Doesn't that hurt so much that a super
annoying person would have a super genius brain? He is humiliating, yes, but
sexy. Brainy is the new sexy :)
And this little thing about friends pinched me. Moriarty says to
Sherlock in the latest episode, "Your only three friends in the world will
die.." and who are these three friends? Sherlock mentions John, Mrs.
Hudson, and Lestrade. Why them? Remember when Donovan starts to conclude that Sherlock
might make things up to make himself look good, and how Lestrade reacts to it?
He doubts. He never thought of it, he never thought that Sherlock was a liar,
but what can he do when everybody insists to say so? Mrs. Hudson is never
involved seriously in Sherlock's cases but definitely she cares about Sherlock and knows him for long, do you
really think that she'll believe the story about Sherlock the liar? Think stereotypes, I don't think so. And John Watson, we need to discuss about him. He
is the first one that Sherlock mentions when Moriarty says that his friends
will die. Okay, who keeps staying beside
when Moriarty makes up the story about Sherlock invented Moriarty and
says that Moriarty is actually an actor hired by Sherlock? Actually, at first I
thought John would start to doubt Sherlock but no, he stays beside him even when Sherlock himself declares that
he did invent Moriarty. Sherlock always says that he has no friend, but who they are that he claims to be his friends, they whom he cares about, they whom he
first remembers when he's about to die? There are only four: John, Mrs. Hudson,
Lestrade, and Molly (his lover). So what is it about all this? Well, friends are the ones who trust you :)
Alright then, is any of you sherlocked enough to guess the unrevealed 4 letters of pass code in the title of this post?
*da fuq, too easy.. it's from the movie -.-

The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho
Wonder how did I spend the last weekend? The answer is I was trapped in this book:
The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho. The story of Athena, the mysterious woman, told by people who know her well, who barely know her, and even people who never meet her. These people accompany Athena through her steps to become what later people know as The Witch of Portobello. The plot flows through the story that jumps from one person to another person which was something new to me and what made me feel excited to read it.
What's really something from this book is that it tells me a story from a witch/paranormal/whatever-you-call-it point of view. All this time, I judged psychics only from a normal person's point of view like they are abnormal, scary, mysterious, related to some kind of black magic, etc. I hadn't got the idea that psychics are also human, that they are just like us but with additional power (whether it is given or something constructed). All the sacrifices and suffers that Athena experiences really change my view about psychics. It's not easy to be a psychic.
After all, this is quite a good book if you need something a bit serious but meaningful to read. I learnt a lot from this book. :)

Don't be like those people who believe in "positive thinking" and tell themselves that they're loved and strong and capable. You don't need to do that, because you know it already. And when you doubt it do as I suggested. Instead of trying to prove that you're better than you think, just laugh. Laugh at your worries and insecurities. View your anxieties with humor. ~ Edda

Taylor Swift - Zac Efron Being Funny on Ellen
Check out these cutest silly duo on Ellen Degeneres Show to promote their new movie, The Lorax:
First, they recorded their dance dares in the premiere of The Lorax for Ellen. Second they changed the Pumped Up Kick lyric into all about Ellen and I admit it's hilarious haha. Well, they played Pumped Up Kick so great, Zac has a really good voice --of course, High School Musical, remember?--, they both can sing! Yay! Make a duet please :D

God Knows We're Worth It
Here it is.. a new music video coming from Jason Mraz. Have you heard his song I Won't Give Up? That song is a second single from his album Love Is A Four-Letter Word. Well, the song's music video premiered on VH1 on February 16 and was uploaded on Youtube the next day. Watch the video below:
I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up, still looking up
I won't give up on us
God knows I'm tough, He knows
We got a lot to learn
God knows we're worth it
This song is very very touching. I thought its mv would be about a couple who is about to break up but the boy won't give up on his love and stuff, but turns out that the music video is more like the Everybody Hurts music video --Helping Haiti version. I feel touched even more :)

Safe & Sound Music Video
Remember when I posted the saddy songs? the broken hearted girl? Taylor Swift's Safe & Sound? The Hunger Games single? No? Really? Alright, it's here. Apparently, this Hunger Games soundtrack's lead single hit its music video premiere on MTV last Monday (February 13th) and the report can be read on MTV's website here and the video of the premiere can be seen here. It says that the song was written by Swift herself, the Civil Wars, and T-Bone Burnett (the film's composer). Oh of course it has to involve the film's composer.. what was I thinking?
However, I prefer to see videos from Youtube. Good thing that TaylorSwiftVevo uploaded the music video on Youtube yesterday (on my time). So.... enjoy! :)

Today's Campus
Hola. This time I'm not going to recommend any song, let's just share what I've been through today, how was campus and that and that. Only one of three courses that happened today. Early in the morning, we talked about translating in the Translating Literary Works class. The only reason that I'm always interested in translating class is that I used to dream to be a novel translator, like Ibu Listiana Srisanti :)
We discussed about issues in translating, not only literary works, but all kinds of works. About translating particular terms. That we indeed need to consult an expert in the field of which work we're translating is about to make sure of the specific meaning of the terms that make us doubt. And the issue of translating jokes. I totally agree with this. There are words that when they are translated they cannot be as funny as the original ones. That's why I don't really like to watch a movie that has been dubbed.
Second course was supposed to be Critical Analysis of Poetry, but the lecturer hadn't come to the class yet since the semester started. It was unfortunate because I have always been waiting to attend poetry class. Not that I'm obsessed with poetry, though I did ever like poetry once. When I was a first grader in senior high school, in a Vocational English class, I was asked to read a poem in front of the class room and after I finished, the teacher praised me and all other students applauded. I still remember the poem I read at the moment, it was Tears, Idle Tears by Lord Alfred Tennyson. What a memory :)
Now, I don't hate poetry but I don't love it either. Now, I would never ever ever try to read poems in front of anyone. I always think of a poem as something brilliant and that never makes me feel confident enough to make one or read it loudly like I did in high school. A confidence problem that I haven't solved :(
Then, what I actually like from poetry class is that it is the only class where my name is so popular. Where rhyme and rhythm take important roles. I really love it. I just can't wait to count how many rhyme and rhythm mentioned in the course's source book and highlight them again. Unhappily, I haven't got any new poetry text books yet. But that's okay, we can still hope for next week :)
Last course was supposed to be Exploring Prose, I'm still upset that I still don't know why I got D for this course last year so it forced me to retake the course this semester. And even I'm not certain about taking it this semester, because its schedule gets clashed with another course I'm taking. At first, there was no clash, that's why I took the course and then there was this change of schedule when I was already done with that study plan form thing. Now I just have to find a way. Pfft.
And last thing, I was fasting today. It was nice to see my belly become so flat... haha...

It's Waterfall on The Face
Probably it sounds silly that a person would ever feel like losing someone she never had, but yeah it happens. When it happens you have no idea how much hurt a girl might feel. And when a girl's heart is broken, all songs with slow music will be bringing her into tears, lyric compatibility doesn't count much as long as it's about romance.
Here are two songs that'll result waterfall on her face :
She said, "If only it's assured that we're meant to be together, I'd be willing to wait patiently until the time comes."
Update: Watch Safe & Sound music video here
Here are two songs that'll result waterfall on her face :
Taylor Swift feat. The Civil Wars - Safe and Sound
This song is a soundtrack of The Hunger Games movie which will be released March 2012. The Hunger Games orchestra cover of the song can be listened here. Try to listen to the cover too, it sounds much sadder with no singers and lyrics, do you know that?
Last Child feat. Giselle - Seluruh Nafas Ini
Last Child is quite expert in creating this kind of song, right? This is just so Last Child. Nothing surprising. It also wouldn't be surprising if the girl with broken heart is bursting into tears after listening to this song. This time, the lyric really matters because I think it's beautiful :)
Di saat kutertatih tanpa kau disini
Kau tetap kunanti demi keyakinan ini
Jika memang dirimulah tulang rusukku
Kau akan kembali pada tubuh ini
Jika memang kau terlahir hanya untukku
Bawalah hatiku dan lekas kembali
Ku nikmati rindu yang datang membunuhku
Di saat kutertatih tanpa kau disini
Kau tetap kunanti demi keyakinan ini
Jika memang dirimulah tulang rusukku
Kau akan kembali pada tubuh ini
Jika memang kau terlahir hanya untukku
Bawalah hatiku dan lekas kembali

You Could Say That... I'm Hopeless..
I know exactly what you think if you first see the title of the song. Fortunately, I listened to the song first then I searched for the title. So, let's ignore the title and just sit and listen the music first :
Dev feat. Enrique Iglesias - Naked
There is no music video (yet). What I enjoy the most from this song are its dance-beats and Dev's sexy vocal. I praise Enrique's sultry vocal but I think it's Dev's voice that is so important. The way she sings with her sexy vocal makes the song sound cute and alive. I like when she says 'hey!' in the middle of the playing music, she sounds soooo cute. And the beats will really make you dance. Enjoy!
Also I think the lyric is sweet rather than horny. It's about two people in love who declare that they don't care what other people think of them or whether their parents agree or disagree about their relationship. All they care is that they love each other just the way they are.
And.. for your information.. for one reason, you could say that I'm really really hopeless right now.. :'(
But that ain't the girl
That ain't the girl I want you to be
The girl that keeps me up
And I see in my dreams
So, you could say that, you could say that
I love her

I Am Not Peter Pan
January the 19th. This year I'm officially 20. But honestly I do not feel the growth--of course. When I saw myself in the mirror this morning, nothing changed, still yesterday's face. Yesterday and Today: Different age, same face. Well, actually what did I expect, I don't know. Although I admit, a week before today I felt a bit scary --but excited, yes-- to face this day. It's just like, "Wow, I'm about to leave my teenage moment." "Can't wait! what will happen on January 19th?" "I'm just a kid, is it gonna be 20 already?"
Yup. I'm 20 now. Just like Jacqueline Emerson says, "I can't be a kid forever." Yaaay, nice lyric, Emerson! Let's make her Peter Pan song be today's soundtrack. Watch and listen below:
The music video is all about Jaqueline singing and playing keyboards. But don't ever think it will make you bored, because it won't. Trust me. I think it's the way she plays those keyboards that makes the video enjoyable to watch. So dynamic, jumping up and down following the music. Moreover, you won't get bored watching her face. Her smile is that nice, IMO. :)
"I know that I can't be a kid forever
But I know that I must live it now or never"
But I know that I must live it now or never"
"I wanna freeze time at the drop of a hat
But even I can't do that"
But even I can't do that"
"Everyone's pushing for us to grow up
But everything's happening way too fast
Everything's changing it's all rearranging
But you only live once"
Anyway, not that I don't want to grow old but.. wouldn't it be nice if we could be a kid forever and should not worry of anything? Or live in a fantasy like ever? I love fantasy world a lot. Yes, it would be very nice, but come on.. no one should have wanted that. I wouldn't want to be trapped in innocence forever. We need challenges. We don't want to live a life monotonically, do we?
It was a very beautiful day today. I wish everyday was my bhirtday but... well, no, thank you, I'm old enough :) I do feel touched seeing this cake, gift, birthday invoice, and wishes from all these wonderful people. I couldn't believe that there are people out there who really care about my birthday. Although there's this one birthday wish that I didn't get. FYI, this one wish is so simple, soooooo simple, it iiis that simple, but I guess it's too much for me. It's 11.42 p.m already and still there's no signal of it.
That one wish makes me so sad, definitely. But right now, nothing I could do but be thankful. Thank You ♥
